All City Championship Match Sprints, Skidz, and Track Stands
Lets continue our coverage of the 2016 All City Championships with the Friday night throwdown: Match Sprints, Distance Skidz, and Trackstand!
Kevin Sparrow was, of course, on hand to document all the radness.
For the past four years or so, we haven't done Sprints in favor of the Track Crit. Quitting primarily because the Robeast Treasure Crayton was just destroying the field every year, making it boring as heck. But with no safe space that I was confident in to hold the Crit, it came back this year and was totally fun as all get out.
A few folks have asked how I run Match Sprints, so here it is in case you'd like to setup your own. The way we do it is each racer puts their name on a note card. We have two backpacks corresponding to our two categories: Open and WTF. Each racer puts their card in the bag that corresponds to the category their signing up for and then we draw cards two at a time to make the pairings. After the first round, the losers cards are ejected and only the winner of the previous brackets name goes back into the bag. Repeat until Champions have been crowned.
