Intercontinental Cyclocross Championship 2017 - Photos
Well, we did it.
We managed to throw our first ever officially official sanctioned (by the USAC no less) cyclocross event. And it was pretty dang awesome.
You may remember the genesis of this event being the amazing Bike Lore event we attended in Japan last December. It was two entire days of fun, with people really making a weekend of it with picnics and activities for the whole family. It wasn’t the usual bike race where you show up, race, and then leave. There was constantly rad stuff happening, beer, food, and a giant party. It was a real festival, and we wanted to bring something like that back home with us.
Well, we half did it. In that we’ve got big plans for this thing, but before we get too crazy though, we had to make sure that we could pull it off. This was our proof of concept year, and what we proved was that “races” are cool, but “events” are most definitely where it’s at. We had folks hanging out the whole day. We had kids going crazy in the bounce house and the slip-n-side. We had food and beverages on hand. A very challenging race course, a major single speed throwdown, and of course the costume race! We did it, and we did it our way. And it was weird, and it was glorious. It was also 90 degrees, hence all the water related pics.
I could go on and on about how much fun we had, but we’ll let the photos do most of the talking.
Let’s just look at this whole series, because his can control is pretty astounding!
Well played Sam!
Teamwork: Tha’ts our Product Manager Max, Sales Manager Nate, our friend Izzy, and Engineer Jenny!
Intercontinental Single Speed Champions received the heavyweight belts and $350 Cash!
All-City X Fulton’s own Grumpy Cat Charlie took it for the men and Jennifer Nowlin of the Fix Studio took home the top prize for the women.
If it looks like the best time, that’s because it was. We hope you’ll look at these pictures, think about your life choices, and get your butts to next year’s Intercontinental Cyclocross Championships!
