Bandit Cross 3

As some of you are probably aware, I've been organizing a series of outlaw cyclocross races in Minneapolis this fall.  I call it Bandit Cross (in full disclosure, the name was suggested by our engineer Adam).  The race this weekend took place on one of my favorite rides in the city.  An out and back gravel loop down in the Minnesota river valley.  It was to be a return to cross races of the past, a return to adventure.  On the eve of the race 8 inches of powder fell turning the entire city into a shitstorm, and causing us to change it up a bit.

Of the 16 riders who showed, none of us were in the mood to race, we were in the mood to group ride and drink.  And so we did.

Andy's well used Schwinn Prologue, almost paradoxically this was the hot rig to ride in the deep powder.  The skinny tires cut through the fluff and onto the frozen gravel.  The Pugs ended up being the worst choice.  I was kicking myself the whole time for abandoning my cross bike for fat tires.
