Leading With Your Values

The other day I was talking about Velocity USA (you know the rim makers) and in speaking of them I made the comment that one of the things I admire about their operation was that they "lead with their values."

I thought about this for a while, and have decided that it's pretty much the best compliment you can pay an organization...

The Velocity dudes are good people, give a ton back to the community in terms of grassroots sponsorship, and you can always rely on them to do the right thing.  By that I mean, if you have an issue with a Velocity product, they'll take care of it.  If it's their fault, it's fixed, if it's your fault and you're honest with them, they will find a fair solution.  That is why when I buy rims I always go to Velocity first, they're my dudes and I take comfort when handing them my money.

I bring this up on the All-City blog because, we've always tried to do the same: be fair, be stand-up, be kind, and act with integrity.  Those are the values we believe in, and I can only hope that when speaking of All-City someone honors us by using similar language someday.

In this facet, the Velocity folks are role models to us, and we thank them for being some of the good guys in this industry.

So I have always had Mavic hoops in all my 700c road wheels. I recently “converted” a bike to 650b and needed new wheels for it. I couldn’t find that sized rims from Mavic. I opted for Velocity as they were the recommended brand by everyone I spoke to.

Praise like that from a variety of sources must have been earned. I can only hope the ride they provide reflects that praise.

Which is why my Mr. Pink frame, on a 5 year build plan, will receive my Velocity Escape wheelset!  Gawd it felt right to put them together and now I know why, All-City BIG HEARTS Velocity!

Jeff’s Western Odyssey

I headed out to Colorado a week ahead of NACCC's to meet up with my good friend Josh Culbertson of Avery County Cycles to do some camping and mountain biking in the Fruita and Moab area. Obviously the love of track, cross, and road bikes runs deep, but I was brought up a mountain biker in the backwoods of Northern Wisconsin. It was my first love, and the opportunity to trod the holy ground of the mtb mecca that is Moab was way too alluring to pass up.

Denver NACCC Photos

At the beginning of the month the annual North American Cycle Courier Championships took place in Denver, Colorado. As per usual at these things, the All-City courier crew went hard, taking first place in qualifying (Stu), first place Men's (Austin), and 2nd place ladies (Christina).

Paglia Rosa Kits are now back in Stock!

Yep, that's right. The Paglia Rosa kit which was created to celebrate the pink Mr. Pink has just gotten a re-up. We sold out so fast of the first run based on word of mouth and Instagram, that we didn't actually even bother to do a product announcement or blog post. So if you're one of the many who missed it the first time, here's your chance.
