I've been down here in Texas since last Tuesday with the expressed reason for the trip being last Thursday's Keep Cross Weird event, thrown in conjunction with our buddy and Austin local, John Watson of Prolly is Not Probably. Stoked to report that things were indeed kept weird, and the event went off with nary a hitch.
During course setup I became worried that the course was way too technical, as I always opt to keep any night races as smooth as possible, but in spite of a gnarly technical descent and the possibility of flying off the singletrack into cactus, there were few casualties and all seemed to have a great time.
After the race we all headed out to Yellow Jacket Social Club where a keg had been procured with the race money, and proceeded to get down.
As always with Bandit Cross, the outpouring of positivity and good will from the participants, made me very grateful to be involved in the cycling community and to have the opportunity to come down and soak up the vibes of the Austin folks. Also super stoked to report that the All-City support is strong down here, with our homies at Cycleast and Beat The Clock leading the charge.
Thanks to all who came out and threw down.
Here is the first sampling of photos from the night from my vantage point.
