Yeah, I gun-blued a bike frame once. Looked awesome. Until it got wet and rusted.
Gun bluing is controlled oxidization. If you don’t maintain it, it goes right to pot with a quickness.

Wheels manufacturing make high quality ferrules that are full brass in 4mm & 5mm housing. This would be a nice accent to your bike.
