Classic Plastic Doubles in Colors!!!
April 27th, 2009 / Jeff
That’s right folks. All-City plans on unleashing white and neon green Classic Plastic Doubles upon you mid-summer.
The Whites will be available in two sizes: Large: 70mm platform and Medium: 60mm platform.

Part numbers: TC4722 Large & TC4723 Medium
The Neon Greens will be available in Large size only: TC4724
These colored clips are made from a softer and more pliable plastic compound than the black ones, and we’re hoping that this new compound will prove more durable and better able to absorb impacts.
Due to the added cost of the colored finish the MSRP on these will be $12. Still super reasonable for a double toe clip and now you can color coordinate till your heart’s content
I know a few guys who could really use a set of these: like our pal Bryan at Bicycle Revolutions in Philly
dude, you need a set of the green ones so freaking bad
New Wheel, White Wheel
April 24th, 2009 / Jeff
Recently I have been ruining rear wheels with alarming regularity. In response to my newfound proclivity to thrash wheels I experimented with running a 36 hole 29’er mountain bike rim. Well as you can see here, that mtb rim didn’t work out the way I was hoping.
One call to our friends at Velocity and my frown was turned completely upside down, and a new White 32 hole non machined Deep V and some Velocity white spokes were on their way to the All-City offices to hold me over until the release of the Chukker. I’ve always wondered what our white hub on white spokes to a white Deep V would look like (the guys at Paradise Garage in Columbus have been building this wheel and piqued my curiosity a few weeks back) .
Turns out, it looks like this.

And to give it even more strength, Matt from Handspun tied and soldered it. We were concerned that the heat from the solder iron would melt the powdercoat on the spokes, but to our relief and surprise that didn’t happened. Perhaps in less skilled hands it may be an issue, but it wasn’t for Matt.
I’ve ridden it a few times now and it’s holding up great, and I’m now a firm believer that the height of the sidewall makes a huge impact on a rims ability to absorb side loads (spinning).
Big thanks to Velocity, and if you’ve ever wondered about what an all white combo might look like, now you know. Although I do totally need one of those white 28c Vittoria’s to complete the look.

Oh and hey,

Keirin Cycles
April 20th, 2009 / Jeff
Keirin Cycles of Miami has just joined us as a partner shop, and we’re pleased as punch about it. If you’re looking for All-City or any other fixed gear stuff in the Miami area, these are the guys who’ll have it.
Our dealer network keeps growing larger all the time, and if you peruse the list you’ll notice that it is rapidly becoming a veritable who’s who of track shops. A brand is only as good as the folks who sell and stand behind it, and I’m proud to say that we’re getting better all the time!
Check out some shots of the place

Nice!
(!!! it’s an exclamation point kind of day!)
The Revival
April 17th, 2009 / Jeff
A new film project from Skitch Clothing called the Revival just dropped it’s first trailer this week. It is of special interest in All-City circles because our very own Sam Miller is slated to ride and appear.
THE REVIVAL from morehartfilms on Vimeo.
from the Skitch Clothing site:
Beginning on May 16th, 2009 we will be touring eastern cities, starting in Toronto then heading to Montreal and finally arriving in the Big Apple. We aim to reveal the riding and culture that exists within each one of these amazing cities. Filming is also underway in Vancouver where the locals have been pushing hard to lay down some of the best lines ever seen on a fixed gear. Along for the ride are some of the most progressive riders on bikes today, including but not limited to:
Tom Briggs
Duncan Lewis
Sam Miller
Tom Mosher
Ryan Nariata
Eiichiro “TenTen” Temmyo
Torey “HFwido” Thorton

Print Advertising

Below is my down and dirty initial concept for our first advertisment which appeared in Cog Magazine (what’s up Sparrow and Von Munz). I was hoping to provide the reader with a snapshot of our lives and convey in some small way, a sense of who we are and what kind of things inspire us and our company.
And this is the finished product as it appeared in Cog, after the design burden was transferred to much more skilled hands than my own.
I came across the initial concept today and it made me smile and think of good rides and better friends, and summer weather, and the idea that even though we (cyclists) are thousands of miles apart, our lives are often just the same.
In case you haven’t noticed I’m a sucker for nostalgia (though I’m not sure you can officially be nostalgic over something that was created just a few months ago) and thought I’d share a glimpse of the process of producing our print adds with you.
I hope you all had a great weekend. Here in Minnesota it finally feels like Winter has loosened it’s grip, and Spring has finally begun. I’ve been riding my singlespeed Benotto lately and you have no idea how good it feels to actually be able to lean your bike into a corner again (which is something that you can’t do in winter sludge).
Winter: boo. Spring: yep.
Take it easy. I’m gone.
Paris Roubaix
April 10th, 2009 / Jeff
The greatest classic of them all takes place this weekend, and I’m excited, and I want you to be excited too. So to warm you up here are a few images from this majestic bicycle race.

Paris Roubaix is a living dinosaur, a throwback to the great eras of cyclings past. The men may change but the cobbles remain eternal. In no other bicycle race do the human elements of pain, suffering, determination and will show themselves as clearly or as beautifully. Fat tires, double tape jobs, traditional wheels, velodrome finish, and the spectacle of post race interviews in the shower. The human element is what makes professional bike racing so interesting, and no other race delivers like Paris Roubaix. I can’t wait.
Coverage starts at 4pm Central on VS.
314 Messenger 130BCD Chainrings are in stock
April 7th, 2009 / Jeff
The 314 Messenger Rings (named after 17 year MPLS messenger vet Tim Gellerman) have finally arrived and are available for sale from our distributor QBP.
They come in 42, 43, 44, 46, and 47 teeth. Are made from the same 7000 series alloy as our 612 rings, are strong as heck, and best of all cost about half of what other “messenger” rings cost. If you’ve been wanting a new ring for your 130BCD crankset but didn’t want to spend more than the arms cost for a new ring, these lovelies are the answer.
Check out the specs here: 314 Messenger

Purple Standard hubsets are on their way
April 3rd, 2009 / Jeff
We have decided to add a new limited edition color to our line of Standard hubsets.

Purple!!!!
True purple not that 3-D Violet 90’s Mountain bike color
We have 60 of these pairs heading our way. We’re not ready to say that we won’t do another batch, but if you want some I’d recommend not sleeping on these when they hit. Expect them in around late May or June.
I’ll let you know as soon as they arrive. The part number for the 32hole fixed/free purple Standard hubset is: HU4751
