Frostbike Unveils

As you may be aware, this weekend was the annual Frosbike tradeshow, and the release of our 2016 Cross lineup. If you've been following along on our Instagram, you've already seen some shots of the new goods, here now though is a full peek behind the curtain. Or at least the best peek we can provide you with the photo assets we currently have.

Before we jump into Cross though, we also unveiled a new color option for the Space Horse. Coming this summer, you will be able to purchase the Horse in British Racing green, or this lovely silver option. This is something that our dealers and customers have been asking for loudly and often. We are super stoked to finally make a second color available.

The silver looked like this in our tradeshow booth:IMG_0426

And in the studio it looks like this:

In both lighting situations however the photos fail to capture the depth and luster of the sparkle in the paint. Wait till you see it outside in the sun for yourself!

Getting back to the main event, we have the new and improved Macho King! What's so new and improved you ask? Well, for starters we eliminated the internal top tube cable routing for the front derailleur and moved all of the cables to the top tube. It's a fairly odd move for us to remove a beautiful touch like the internal routing from one of our bikes so you can bet we had a darn good reason for it.

That reason: the proliferation of single ring cross drivetrains. The idea of the internal routing just sitting there unused bummed us out. Those things are hard to do and add weight to the frameset, not only that, but unused that 5mm hole in your top tube could become a collector for debris. (If you have one with internal routing that you're not using, don't get too worried about water getting in, it's a brass tube and won't rust).

Moving everything to the top tube also let us get rid of the cables on the downtube which leads to more comfortable cradling of the bike in a run up. Moving the cables also meant moving the disc brake mount from the chainstay to the seatstay, so since we were messing with the dropouts we also added a removable derailleur hangert. We're stoked on this because we've seen derailleurs ripped off during muddy races and wanted to make sure that if your hanger was damaged, it was easily fixable in the parking lot. What with this being a race bike and all.

A note on the picture below, the rear cable routing is under the seatstay on this prototype, for production it will be moved to the top of the stay for cleaner routing to the rear brake. BK5253

In other models, the Nature Boy disc got a real tough looking paint job: BK1377

The Macho Disc also got a paint refresh to go along with an upgrade in spec. You'll now find it sporting a Shimano 105 11 speed drivetrain and a sick red/white fade. IMG_0418

Other big news includes the return of the Macho Man as a frameset only in canti form with a super slick tri-color fade. Dig that first image on this post, the blue really highlights the details on the fork crown. IMG_0437

And last but not least, this weekend was the first time many folks saw the Nature Boy 853 in person. The big thing here is that unlike the other models you don't have to wait. We have them in stock now. IMG_1084

Here are a few bonus pictures from around the tradeshow booth. Shout out to Saisha who absolutely crushed the booth design game.IMG_1087

Very sorry to see the demise of the orange colored Macho Man Disc…I get many complements on it because I think it stands out amidst a sea of grays, whites, blacks, and blues that seem to dominate the Seattle Bike scene.
